This close fitting hat features a cabled band inspired by an unusual piece of Celtic knotwork, which appears to be a continuous line but is in fact a series of interlinked loops.
The cabled band is worked first, flat, then grafted together. The crown stitches are then picked up around the edge of the brim and worked in the round.
Please note that when working the cabled band, getting the correct row gauge is essential to the finished measurements. When working the crown, stitch gauge is more important. If you can’t match both row and stitch gauge on the same needles, it may be necessary to use different sized needles on the band and the crown.
The cabled band pattern is provided both as a chart and as row-by-row written instructions.
