This blanket pattern features separate hexagonal cabled pieces, worked in the round from the centre out, which are joined together to create a beautiful star-like repeating effect.

This pattern is intended for DK-weight yarn. As written, it will produce a small blanket, 29½˝/(75 cm) by 26¾˝/(68 cm), however the finished size can be adjusted quite easily by varying the number of hexagons made. The single PDF pattern includes a table of estimated finished measurements and yardages up to 52½˝/(133.5 cm) by 52¾˝/(134 cm) (see pattern photos for measurements and yardages table).

In the finished sample photos, the turquoise-blue blanket is worked in Wollmeise Merino DK (shade Neptun Medium). The blue blanket featured in the Something New to Learn About Cables book is worked in Coop Knits Socks Yeah! DK (shade Astra Planeti).

Materials/tools required
• For smallest size of blanket (as written): approx. 1420 yds/(1300 m) of DK-weight yarn Each hexagon requires approx. 48 yds/(44 m)of DK-weight yarn.
• 4.0 mm/(US size 6) DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Short circular gauge-size needle
• Medium or long gauge-size circular needle (for edging); a second set may be required if you prefer to arrange stitches for joining on separate needles
• 1 stitch marker
• darning needle
• cable needle
• waste yarn or stitch holders

Tension
22 sts and 29 rounds over 10cm [4in] in stocking stitch, after washing and blocking
Each hexagon measures approx. 15cm [6in] in width measured from centre of a straight edge across centre to opposite centre of straight edge, and approx. 16.5cm [6½in] in width measured from one point across centre to opposite point, after washing and blocking
It is strongly recommended that you check your tension after knitting, washing and blocking your first hexagon.

Pattern Notes
The blanket is worked in separate hexagonal pieces, which are joined together. The hexagons are joined in strips and half-hexagons are knitted on at the edges, working the cable pattern in the opposite direction to the full hexagons. At the ends of the blanket are rows of half-hexagons to give a straight edge. The blanket is then edged with i-cord to give a neat finish.
